• A $25 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a spot in any of our acting classes.

All registrations are due one week prior to the start of the acting class. Registrations received less than one week prior to start of classes will incur a $25 late fee. You will receive e-mail confirmation upon receipt of your registration.

BRING A FRIEND! If a first-time student mentions your recommendation on their registration form, you'll get a $10 gift certificate, good for your next acting class at Saltworks!

Every child's individual experience is important to us. Our classes are small, averaging 10 students to one teacher and one assistant. Actors of all levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to grow and learn at their own pace. Our teachers are theater professionals with a heart for education and a commitment to encourage each student to achieve their theatrical goals. They have directed and performed with such groups as Saltworks, Stage 62, Pittsburgh Savoyards, Prime Stage, and many other local and regional theaters.

Saltworks Young Actors Studio is a place to learn about acting among supportive friends. We emphasize building basic acting skills as well as developing personal character and the important skill of working in an ensemble. Our philosophy is "process over product" which means that we value the individual journey and the success of each student to achieve new goals more than the final collective production.

Cost: $200/week, $365/two weeks

Week 1 and Week 2 will each offer different material. Come for one week or both! Week 3 features the same curriculum as Week 1.

After warm-ups, games, and instructor showcases, students will be introduced to stage concepts including improvisation, film acting, creative movement, and many other exciting topics.

In the afternoon, you will separate your focus area: Musical Theater or Scene Study. When you register, please choose "Musicals" if you're interested in working on a song and dance from a popular Broadway show, or "Scenes" which will give you an opportunity to study character development in the context of a scene from a play.

Does your child have a wild and crazy imagination that's ready to entertain at any minute? Do they like to make up stories and act them out? Then our "Saltines" program is just perfect for you! Our youngest actors will enjoy a different storybook every day, and explore it through role playing, singing, arts, crafts, and movement. Students are grouped with others their age and will work on short plays to be presented to family and friends on Friday.

YOUNG COMPANY SHOW - Ages 9-16    
THE ARABIAN NIGHTS
Performances: Fri. Aug. 20 at 7 p.m.
                        Sat. Aug. 21 at 2 and 7 p.m.
Cost:  $175
Rehearsals will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon on Aug. 2-6, 9-13, and 16-19.

The Young Company Show is a chance to audition, memorize lines, and perform a full-scale play - complete with costumes, lights, microphones, props, and an audience! This experience is truly "character building" in every sense of the word! Your registration holds your spot in the cast, but you'll also be asked to audition for your role in the show. Auditions will be conducted on Thursday, July 15, starting at 10:00 a.m. After you register, Dale will call you to schedule an appointment for an audition.

YOUNG COMPANY SHOW POLICY: In order to be eligible for the Young Company Show, applicants must have participated in Saltworks Summer Studio or classes. Also, as per the Saltworks Scholarship Policy, scholarships are NOT available for this event.
